1 // on 10/01/2020 they have released a demo track tiltled “parachute”. this track is only released with a lyrics video on their Youtube channel “motherwitnoise”
2 // HUJAN has always been a musical influence among others. following the first demo-track, on 30/01/2020 a cover of the original track "gundah" was released on their youtube channel.
3 // during the first phase of PKP (Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan) or Movement Control Order, MOTHERWIT released their first Malay track "senjakala" in a collaboration project with other bands and released a collective EP project called "stay home // stay safe". "senjakala" was available on all streaming platforms on 04/04/2020, including a video music on their youtube channel.
4 // during the second phase of PKP, the gang once again joined forces - only this time, more talented bands and solo-acts jumped in on the bandwagon. collectively, an album titled "extended" was released. MOTHERWIT's "demons//wall" is one of the nine tracks to be featured on this album. "extended" was released and available on all streaming platforms on 10/05/2020.
FIRST EP
5 // like any other average soul walking this planet, when life throws shit at you in the face- you write a song about it (because therapists are for the privileged, and crying by the post of your bed is out of the question). but then, not everything in life is bitter. the songs in this demo album features tracks that signify some of the most important points in sahaq's life - the first track “prison of love” is written about the writer’s journey of being a child in the parents’ perspective.
the second track “somewhere somehow” was written in 2018, when the writer decided to continue his musical journey with this project. in other words this song was written especially for the band MOTHERWIT, about real-life ups and downs and the corny journey of being in an open relationship. “senjakala” is included in the demo album because it is special in its own way. being written as a challenge during the pandemic at the time, this song was written and recorded in only 2 days. the last track of this record, “parachute” was written about the worst time of the writer's life apart from having his own personal issues, he was still trying to help someone who he thought was honest but it turned out that they weren’t.
the whole demo album circles around the concept of compilation of archived materials written by sahaq. aside from senjakala, each track was chosen based on what the band intends to showcase as their first record release - his "archived" materials. the same concept also applies to the image chosen as the cover of the album of which was taken by the writer during his trip to the big apple with his wife some years ago.
6 // on 12th Dec 2022, the band has released another single titled "amanah". this son was released with
the DIY mv directed by sahaq with the help of his wife natasha as the videographer. Later on 25th Dec 2022, the song has been released on online streaming platform.
this song is mainly about the facing or carrying any responsibility alone but at the same time he or she always forget that being a human is never about being alone.
7 // with the help of Naib Johan, thunder lyrics video was released on 30th July 2021. The video featured an upcoming talent, Iman Zulkarnain as the main act. the song was also later released on the online sreaming platform.
This song captures the experience of having a cunning relationship with someone that you may not want to remember. Everything that seemed fine in the beginning was all wiped away when you realize you've been blinded the entire time. But life is too short to be holding grudges, so dust it off and move on.
the band is currently writing some new stuff for their upcoming album which is predicted to be released next year, 2023. Wish them good luck!
